For over 35 years the Great Missenden Orchestra has rehearsed together, prepared concerts and enjoyed orchestral workshops in Great Missenden and wider Buckinghamshire. Our repertoire is mainly well-known classical and chamber music with a mix of lesser-known works.
This term we are delighted to welcome our new conductor Angelika Stangl, a violinist and oboe player and music teacher. Our previous conductors include Andy Langley, who also conducted the Stoke Poges Singers, Francis Mullaly (pictured left), Head of Music at Watford Grammar, Paul Luke, Stuart Bonner and Yvonne Pinion.
We play for fun all year, meeting on Wednesdays in term time at the Oldham Hall in Great Missenden. Rehearsals are from 8-10pm with a break and free refreshments.
We hold regular informal concerts and an annual workshop to try out larger more complex orchestral works.
We currently have spaces for a 2nd bassoon and string players - if you play violin, viola, cello or double bass, come along on Wednesday and try us out!
You will need a good standard of sight-reading and intonation to enjoy playing with us.
